In just its second year of being known as GT3 Asia, the Series has received the South China Media Group with the Hong Kong Outstanding Original Car Race (Asia-Pacific Region) Award.
The award was presented last week in Hong Kong and was received by Paul Yao, CEO of the co-organiser, Supercar Club Hong Kong on behalf of the GT3 Asia Series.
“This is an acknowledgement of the hard work that we have put into the Series up to now and a testament to the exciting races that the drivers and team put on every time we are on the circuit. We are honoured with the award and would like to extend our appreciation to the South China Media Group for this recognition” said David Sonenscher, CEO of Motorsport Asia.
The GT3 Asia 2010 Season was won by Dilantha Malagamuwa after an exciting last minute sweep of wins during the final three rounds of the season. Malagamuwa took the win by 13 points from Malaysian driver Tunku Hammam, who led the Championship into the final weekend.
The 2011 race season is scheduled to begin in May with races at the new Formula 1 circuit in Korea, Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, Fuji International Circuit and Autopolis Circuit in Japan and to end the season during the prestigious Macau Grand Prix at the Guia International Circuit.
