Ilyas completes Eurointernational’s four car line-up for JK Racing Asia Series 2012

Eurointernational is pleased to announce their fourth driver, Malaysian Irfan Ilyas, as the final driver in the team’s talented line-up of young drivers for the 2012 Season of JK Racing Asia Series (JKRAS).

 

 

 

The soon to be 18-year-old, Ilyas turns 18 this 22nd June, has a short but impressive racing career. The youngster, who was crowned the Rookie Champion of the Malaysia Yamaha SL Cup in 2009, showed great promise in his debut in the JK Racing Asia Series last year, finishing fourth overall claiming four second placed podium finish and three third in the season.

 

Speaking of his upcoming partnership with Eurointernational, Ilyas was all smiles saying “I feel very lucky to be racing with Eurointernational this year as they have won many championships and are the reigning JK Racing Asia Series Team Champion.

 

This is my second year with this Championship, where last year I raced as a Rookie. I acquired valuable experience during the championship last year. Although I competed against more experienced drivers, I managed to secure a fourth placed finish overall in the Championship and 2nd as a Rookie.

 

“This year, I will be with the most experienced team and I think we can work well together to clinch this year's Team Championship. I’m looking forward to playing an important role in pushing the team to the very front of the grid” ended Ilyas.

The 2012 JKRAS comprises of 16 races held at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, Paul Ricard in France, Spa Francorchamps in Belgium, Marina Bay in Singapore, and Buddh International Circuit in India.

 

The Series has an unrivalled track record for training future Champions with graduates at the highest level of the sport such Sebastian Vettel, Nico Rosberg, Daniel Ricciardo in F1 while new up and coming stars like Felipe Nasr, Daniel Juncadella, Alexander Rossi, Robert Wickens, Carlos Sainz Jr, all drivers who have started their autoracing career winning with the Eurointernational Team in Formula BMW around the world.

 

Since 1989, Eurointernational has entered 486 races worldwide, with 105 wins, 147 podiums, 109 poles, winning 15 Overall Drivers Championships, 12 Team Titles and 4 Rookie Cups. Eurointernational is a Championship Winning Team in Formula BMW history worldwide, with 72 wins, 92 podium, 88 poles, in 154 races, including 6 Team Championships, 6 Driver Championships, 3 Rookie Cup and last year’s World Final title.
