Chen Jun San got the double win weekend when he claimed yet another win in the Asian Touring Car Series, Round 8 at the Sentul International Circuit. The Taiwanese driver was happy but looked exhausted after the 15-lap race in the searing mid afternoon heat of the Indonesian circuit. Chen was followed across the line by two Team IMSP drivers, Danny Stacy Chau and Man Ting Yu.

Chen now has a 33 point lead over Kenneth Lau in the points standing and a further 16 points from second placed race finisher, Danny Stacy Chau.

Despite still being faced with the gearbox issue, Chen managed a good start from sixth in the reverse grid order and raced at a consistent pace to claim the chequered flag for the second time over the weekend.

Of his race, he said “I did not make a very good start but there were a lot of people the same as me. So I had the chance to overtake the cars in front.

“The temperature was quite hot and the tyre life was quite important. As in the last race, the gearbox on my car was not fixed. So I was saving my gear and having to press the clutch, something I haven’t done in a while. I just concentrated on winning the race. I really did enjoy myself today” he ended with a big smile.

For Danny Chau, the main concern was for the heat and his teammate that was all over his mirrors. “It was a hot race. The temperature went up from 87C, which was normal for like the practice and qualifying but went up to 125C!

“I was scared and with Man Ting Yu behind me I couldn’t lift off. All I did was check the temperature and the front, where the next corner will be. There was not time for anything else. But I am happy to be here” ended Danny Chau.

For Man Ting Yu, climbing on the podium with his ‘teacher’ was a great honour and thanked Danny Chau for all the efforts he put in to make sure that Man was able to get in the car for the race weekend.

“I am really happy that Danny could help me.

“In the race, I kept my pace to Danny and tried to find a way past him. But on lap twelve, I saw Kenneth Lau’s car broke down and I just kept my pace for the podium” ended Man.

Yu is looking forward to the next race, saying “I am looking forward to it, I am ready!”
